"In heaven, on earth, then in the sea, saffron-cloaked, we call to thee..."
The Saffron Cloak is an immersive yearlong study and practice in the history, mysteries, and magic of Hekate. The course is comprised of 13 modules, each including extensive written lessons, live Zoom meetings, self-guided projects and magical workings, and quarterly personal mentorship meetings with Priestess Devanna.
This course is designed for intermediate practitioners of magic and polytheism who are called to do dedicated work with Hekate. It is not recommended for novices or those who are Hekate-curious without an inclination for service.
Each module centers on an epithet of Hekate, exploring the historical, mythological, and literary instances of its use as well as its broader implications for Hekate’s character and powers. Additionally, each lesson includes articles on plant spirits, materia magica, sacred tools for the Hekatean priestess, journaling prompts, and rituals to perform.
Students will receive the PDF lessons 2 weeks ahead of live meetings, and are expected to be familiar with the material for class discussions. All classes are recorded, though students are expected to make a good faith effort to attend live meetings as much as possible, as building community is an important aspect of this work. At the completion of the course (March 2027), students are invited to take vows and share their vision for their path as a Priestess of Hekate. Lesson modules unfold as follows:
